In today’s blog, we’d like to take a little break for our usual topics. We recently read an interesting article that pointed out the obvious: poor sleep means poor productivity. When we don’t get the rest we need, our ability to work at optimum pace and efficiency suffers. Whether you’re seeing patients or overseeing a practice’s online marketing strategy, being well-rested is key! Fortunately, we have a few tips to help you out.
Make a Schedule!
First, we tend to sleep better when we maintain a schedule. In fact, a regular sleep schedule can make falling asleep quicker easier, and also reduce the risk of disorders, such as sleep apnea. You should be waking up and going to bed at the same times each day.
Another issue that impacts our sleep: stress. To combat this, try preparing your morning the night before. Preset your coffee, lay out your outfit, little things that may not seem like much, but can make your mornings significantly less stressful. In addition, really try to separate your work and personal life. Worrying about tasks, or trying to complete them after hours, can actually make anxiety (and sleeping) worse.
Avoid the Screens…
Did you know that the light imitated by our smartphones can trick the boy dint thinking it’s day? TVs, computers, and smartphone screens right before bed and make falling asleep difficult. In the 30 minutes before bed, try to avoid screen, Try a book instead!
Watch What You Eat
Foods high in saturated fats and carbs can also impact our ability to rest. Try to avoid a big meal in the hour or to before bed. You can also strive to eat lighter, healthier meals for dinner to make going to bed much easier. Remember, whether you’re in marketing or dentistry, rest is the key to being productive, alert, and in a good mood!
