Client Feature: Saxonburg Dental Care Micro Site

It’s Friday, so we’re back at it again with another client feature! We feel so lucky to get to work with some of the finest dentists in the country, so naturally we want to shine a spotlight on them when we can. You may recognize the name in this week’s shoutout. We’ve highlighted Dr. Saxonburg’s practice before, as we just had the privilege of redesigning the dentist’s website. However, this week we wanted to focus on a more specific aspect of our client’s approach. In addition to the main website, Dr. Saxonburg also has a microsite. Here’s what that means and why it’s important.

Microsites Can Be Used to Parcel Information to Keep Your Main Site Tidy

When you develop the website for your dental practice, you come up with a list of headings or tabs that should probably be included. Patient forms, meet the staff, services, and contact information tabs are all fairly standard. However, if your practice has a unique feature that you’d like to highlight, or a specialty that sets you apart from the competition, you may want to use a microsite.

A microsite allows you to bundle that information together and place it on a page with a different URL. This means it is a separate website, but the branding and naming of the site can be consistent with your main website so that patients know they’re still looking at your information.

In the case of Dr. Saxonburg, this practice has created a microsite covering dental sedation services. This is an important aspect of the care offered by the practice, but all of the extra tabs and info would have bogged down the main site. You’ll notice that the visual branding is still the same.

Microsites Allow You to Hyperfocus Your SEO

The URL for the Saxonburg main site is “saxonburgdentalcare,” while the URL for the microsite is “saxonburgdentalsedation.” While the URLs are different, they are branded the same way so that patients can understand that they’re still working with the same practice. However, now patients that have anxiety and are specifically searching for practices that offer sedation can more easily find the Saxonburg practice with a search query.
