Create Successful Content For Short Attention Spans

We don’t look at content online the same way we would a book. We skim, we skip, and we’re very likely to turn away from blogs or pages that appear to require too much of our time. With this in mind, how do you create successful content while at the same time, catering to users with short attention spans? There are a number of ways you can make your blogs and pages more reader-friendly and likely to be read.

Ready Friendly Formatting

As I mentioned in the intro, we don’t approach blogs or webpages like we do a book or magazine. Large blocks of text suddenly appear intimidating. We want a format that is a little more reader friendly, such as:

  • Bullet points
  • Various formats (quizzes, FAQs, lists)
  • Use of headings to break up text

Suddenly, your informative and well-written post is much more attractive to potential readers (who you hope will become patients).

Share (and hopefully, be shared!)

We’re more willing to check something out when it’s introduced to us be a friend or family member. As a dentist, this means sharing your content on social media is important. When other people like, comment, share, or retweet your work, they introduce your posts to their friends and family members. People are then more likely to read what you share and more likely to consider your services. You want to share, so hopefully, you can be shared.

Images and Videos

Another option or breaking up text is to employ pictures, gifs, and videos. You can make your pages more reader friendly. For your blogs, always add a picture if possible. For your webpages and website, make sure you work with a designer to create an attractive and easy-to-navigate page.

Understand Your Audience

To create quality content, you need to know your audience. Without a doubt, this is the most important factor when creating pages and blogs. You can have a well-written and beautiful looking post, but if it doesn’t address your specific audience it does you no good. Know who your patients are, know what kind of patients you want, and tailor your blogs and pages for them.
