We’re officially in October! As a dentist, this means many of your patients, especially, the younger ones, will be enjoying an entire season that revolves around sugary treats, from Halloween to Christmas. As a dentist, how should you get ready for Halloween? What promotions can you run this time of year to raise awareness about oral health risks (while also attracting new leads)?
Your blog is the perfect platform to write about promotions or discuss the importance of preventing tooth decay. You can write posts on healthy alternatives to Halloween candy, suggest ways for parents to limit consumption of their children’s candy hoard, and remind them how important a checkup and cleaning can be. You can then share your blog posts on social media. As your followers like, comment, and share, they in turn share your content with their circle of friends. Having posts revolve around holidays or major events also increases the likelihood they will be shared.
You can also take this time to offer special promotions. Some dentists offer buyback programs. They pay a dollar per pound of candy, then donate the candy to organizations, such as Operation Gratitude, which then gives the candy to troops serving overseas.
You can also offer discounts on checkups and cleanings to attract new leads or remind current patients how important these preventive visits are for maintaining optimal oral health.
