When Google makes a change, no matter how seemingly minor, people start to worry. After all, so much of our SEO (search engine optimization) and online marketing strategies depend on factors that Google’s bots take into account when ranking pages. A few weeks ago, we discussed Google’s temporary changes to search engine results pages (SERP), in which the search giant added card boxes around the results. While this didn’t last, we were greeted with a change today that seems to be sticking around.
When you search for something on Google you will notice the grey box around the search bar is larger and not as dark. Instead of a blue search button with a white magnifying glass, we now have a blue magnifying glass and a white button. In all, the changes give the page a sleeker, cleaner, and brighter look.
How does this impact you? Well, at the moment it doesn’t appear to. Of course, the rumor is that Google is gradually rolling out the Penguin 4.0 update, but if your SEO strategy focuses on quality content and improving user experience, then you don’t have to worry.
