As a content-based marketing firm for dentists, we take our content writing and — as a result — our content managers very seriously. We don’t outsource our writing. (We don’t outsource anything, for that matter.) All of our content managers undergo a serious training program during which they learn the ins and outs of dental copywriting and the technical side of website maintenance and SEO.
Additionally, they all hail from Texas, where our office is located, and gather each month for a training session and company meeting. We began 2016 with a bang with our annual writing workshop. Content manager and special projects coordinator Rebecca Romero — who has provided excellent blog and web copy for our clients’ web presences for years — led our team through an afternoon of activities to brush up on our writing, editing, blogging, dentistry, and SEO know how.
Why a Workshop?
Although our monthly training sessions and meetings are a great way to trouble shoot and address issues that come up throughout the month, a workshop provides more of an opportunity to brainstorm and work together to meet our overall goal: to best serve our valued clients. The entire team has an opportunity to set aside a day and take a look at why we do what we do, how we do it, and how to make it better. Writing isn’t a skill someone can master; even the best require practice and changes to their approach. (Plus, SEO is always changing, and it’s our top priority to remain on the cutting edge of what’s new in online marketing and dentistry to help our clients reach their marketing goals and grow their businesses.)
What Did We Learn?
We focused largely on the goal of our content writing: helping our clients. Quality blogs and web copy are designed to improve SEO and help solidify the client’s reputation as a professional.
We also discussed if and how our approach to SEO will change in 2016. We looked at marketing trends and the most commonly searched dental terms and discussed what factors our clients valued most based on our interactions with them, both online and over the phone. We are pleased to say, it was an informative and successful experience for all.
