What’s a subscriber? It’s a person who signs up to get your blogs delivered by email every time you post. Subscriptions ensure that your blog is getting out there so that people can forward it to friends, post it on Facebook, or share it on Twitter.
To subscribe, web visitors go to the Sign Me Up! button in the sidebar of your blog site. If you don’t have a subscribe button, one, get one. If you don’t know how, call me (972-781-8861).
The very best way to get subscribers is by doing exactly what they do at the grocery store, pharmacy, dress shop, and bookstore. At checkout, ask if you can sign your patient up for your “newsletter that comes by email.”
Positioning is key here. Do Not Ask if You Can Sign Someone Up for Your Blog.
Most people don’t know exactly what a blog is, so they’ll say no. Everyone knows what a newsletter is – basically , it’s good information, with maybe a coupon or special offer.
After your patient pays, but before handing her the receipt, use this script:
OM: Thank you so much for visiting us today, Mrs. Patient. I’d love to sign you up for our paperless newsletter. We’ll deliver it to your email. Can I get your email address?
Pt: Sure. It’s [email protected].
It’s really that simple. Assume the answer will be yes.
Then you use the email address to subscribe on the patient’s behalf. You have to be logged out of your WordPress account to make it work.
All the emails in the world do you no good if you don’t subscribe them. You got verbal permission, so it’s fine. And rest assured, your patients will have an opt out option. It’s all nice and legal with WordPress.
