At one time, a blog was separate from your website. However, that was a long time ago and now good SEO practice involves adding your blogs to your main site. Why did we move away from having a separate website just for a dental blog? What benefits does having one attached to your site offer?
Why Shouldn’t I Have a Separate Site?
Each time you add new content to your website, Google’s bots then crawl and index the pages. Since each page will be optimized for local SEO, containing keywords and links, being crawled and indexed can help improve rankings on a search engines results page (SERP). When someone then searches for a dentist or a specific dental service n your community, they will be more likely to find your page. However, if you have a separate blog page, then adding content only improve rankings for that site, not your main one. People will be less likely to look a blog site for information than a main one dedicated to a specific practice.
What About Microsites?
Now, microsites are a separate site, but they differ from a blog site. A microsite is dedicated to a specific service, such as dental implants or sleep apnea. The goal is to direct people looking for those specific services to your microsite, which will also contain contact information and other details about your practice.
