Why Your Dental Practice Needs an MDPM Blog

Have you been told that having a blog on your website is all you need for optimal search engine optimization? Have you heard that a dental practice blog is simply a waste of time? Well, we’re going to play a little game of Myth Busters today. I want to share with you the top five reasons that you need not just any blog, but you need an MDPM blog.

1) To increase your odds for placement on SERPs by having multiple domains
According to SearchEngineOptimizationJournal.com, “Google will only allow one page from the same domain to rank for the same keyword.” What this means is, if you want to have the top few listings for a keyword phrase, multiple websites will help. The article goes on to say, “The more websites you have, the more chances you have of attracting sales. It means more opportunities for you to earn the income you want.”

For instance, Google “sedation dentist Wilkes Barre” and you’ll see that our client, Back Mountain Dental, appears as A on the map, then further down on the first page, their blog, sedationdentistwilkesbarre.com, ranks fourth. Out of the 15 listings on page one of Google, Back Mountain Dental shows up twice.

2) Because blogs are considered news and website text isn’t
Blogs are considered news by Google, so original blog posts with good content can rank higher than similar content on a website. Other factors come into play, like the age of the content, its length, backlinks to the content, etc. For more on this topic, check out Google Caffeine.

3) Because backlinks to  your main website will boost THAT SITE’s SERP ranking
A backlink is a link to your website from another website. By having your blog on its own domain, separate from your website, when we link keywords within blog posts to related pages on your website, your website is credited with backlinks. For ranking websites on search engine results pages (SERPs), Google places great importance on the number and quality of backlinks to your website. If your blog were a page on your website, the links from blog posts to your website pages would be considered internal links, and they will not have near the impact on SERPs placement as back links.

Here’s an example, Google “cosmetic dentist Chicago.” Chicago Smile Spa comes up as the third map entry. The blog we write for this client does not show up on page one. However, her main website did not appear on page one until we began the blog, which includes backlinks to her website. The backlinks pushed her main site’s listing to the top of page one.

4) Because MDPM writes quality blogs for dental patients
At MDPM, we employ experienced blog writers who work only in dentistry. They are trained to understand the dental market, as well as procedures, technology, and ADA marketing guidelines. Jill Duty has been a copy director in the dental website business for over four years. She leads our copy department and holds MDPM writers to high standards. Instead of writing only surface-level content about fillings and crowns, MDPM writers delve deeper into dentistry and translate technical information into terms a layman can understand.

Just this week, we posted a blog on Platelet Rich Plasma and its effects on healing for implant patients for Lynn Dental Care. Understanding this topic required research and time. Most website companies will not take this personal and in-depth approach to writing a single blog. At MDPM, we know our clients deserve our best.

5) Because MDPM does more than post blogs
In addition to writing and posting search engine optimized blogs, MDPM posts all of our clients’ blogs on their Facebook and Twitter pages. We also manage comments on the blogs and keep spam and competitors from publishing comments. Quite frequently, as blog comments, we receive questions from potential patients, resumes for potential employees, and invitations for dentists to appear on other media. If comments were closed, these connections may never be made. It is our policy to forward these types of contacts to our client doctors, not publish them on the blog.

BONUS) Because you deserve excellent service, advice, assistance, and availability
We answer our phone all of the time. We return emails immediately. We are always available and eager to assist our clients.

Need a new patient photo on your blog site? It will be posted within 24 hours of receipt from your office.

Have a new employee? We’ll email an interview or call the employee and interview her/him over the phone, then create a profile for your blog.

Just received your brand new E4D? We’ll blog about it and include photos from the manufacturer or those that you provide. We can even write a press release or newspaper article about the awesome new things happening in your office.

MDPM is more than a blog company. We’re a dental marketing consulting firm.

So call 972-781-8861 or email us. We’ll be happy to answer all of your questions and provide a proposal for your Internet marketing strategy.
