While most people use Google as their preferred search engine, Google isn’t the only option out there. Many people still rely on Yahoo for news, search engine services, and even original shows like Other Space and Community Season Six. However, people were recently shocked to learn Yahoo is for sale, and their current CEO may be on the way out. What does this mean for you?
While Yahoo’s CEO, Marissa Mayer, believes there is still time to turn things around, shareholders are skeptical. As a result, businesses have until April 18th to put offers on the table for the company. Smaller companies may bid for subdivisions of the corporation, while larger entities may attempt to obtain the search engine services – which are valued at over $8 billion. Due to antitrust issues, Google most likely won’t be purchasing any parts of Yahoo. But experts feel Microsoft, which already has a close relationship with the company, may have offers on the table. Although the company is accepting offers, they may still choose to turn them down, despite the companies many financial woes.
